We are a small community peer-support group providing practical and emotional support to people living with epilepsy. Whether you’re managing the condition yourself, supporting a loved one, or are newly diagnosed, you’ll find understanding, friendship, and a safe space at Epilepsy Berkshire.
At Epilepsy Berkshire, our message is simple — you are never alone. Whether you’ve lived with epilepsy for years or have just been diagnosed, there’s a place for you here. Together, we can face the challenges, celebrate the victories, and ensure that no one who comes to Epilepsy Berkshire will face epilepsy alone.
If you’ve just received a diagnosis of epilepsy, we know it can be a lot to take in. It can be overwhelming, confusing, and, at times, frightening. But you don’t have to face this journey alone. At Epilepsy Berkshire, you’ll find people who understand exactly what you’re going through — people who can offer guidance, reassurance, and support.
We offer practical advice, emotional comfort, and a place to connect with others who truly understand what it means to live with epilepsy. From explaining what the diagnosis means to helping you navigate the next steps, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
At Epilepsy Berkshire, we are committed to helping people live with epilepsy, and not feel burdened by it. Our mission is to provide a local network of support, foster connections, and empower people to lead full, confident lives.
We achieve this through:
Offering direct help and emotional guidance for individuals and families living with epilepsy.
Assisting those who have recently received a diagnosis, helping them to understand their condition and connect with necessary services, including financial and welfare advice.
Creating a space where no one feels isolated. We aim to ensure that everyone feels safe, understood, and supported.
Organising social events, group sessions, and informal meet-ups to help people build friendships, share experiences, and realise they’re not alone.
Working with local organisations and employers to increase awareness and understanding of epilepsy, and to challenge the stigma that surrounds it.
Helping people embrace their epilepsy, take control of their lives, and achieve their goals with confidence.
For many years, Epilepsy Berkshire has been a lifeline for those affected by epilepsy and their families. When the pandemic hit, we had to pause our regular face-to-face meetings, but we didn’t want to leave anyone feeling isolated. Instead, we adapted by starting weekly Zoom Socials, which have now become a regular, valued part of our support network.
We are a small community peer-support group made up of volunteers and members. Many of us live with the condition ourselves, which means we truly get what it’s like to face the daily challenges of managing epilepsy. We know the importance of having a community that’s supportive, friendly, and understanding — and that’s exactly what we aim to provide.
We’re always looking for new volunteers to join our team. Whether you have epilepsy, care for someone who does, or simply want to give back to your community, there are many ways you can get involved. We’re particularly looking for people to help run meetings, offer peer support, and spread awareness of epilepsy throughout Berkshire. If you’d like to help make a difference, we’d love to hear from you!
We also run an active Facebook group where members can ask questions, share experiences, and connect with others who truly understand the challenges of living with epilepsy. Whether you need advice, want to share a victory, or simply want to chat, our online community is a place for you to feel safe and supported.
At Epilepsy Berkshire, we’re not just a support service — we’re a community that’s here for you every step of the way. No matter where you are in your journey with epilepsy, you are never alone.
